2019 Score Keeping Clinics-Dates TBA

The 2019 AA/AAA baseball seasons are getting under way!  The Northeast Zone/Edmonton Padres will once again be sponsoring a baseball scorekeeping clinic.  Whether you are new to baseball or are an experienced fan, this 5-hour clinic will help you understand all the basics of scorekeeping and then some.

Three different types of courses will be offered:

Beginner’s Basic Series (For those who want or need to start with an understanding of the game first.)

Skills you will learn – General rules and terminology of the game, defensive positions, understanding the scorebook, basic scoring of the game, and instruction of required game forms for Baseball Alberta league.

Advanced Series (For those who already have an understanding of the game and its concepts.)

2019 Dates and Times TBA

Skills you will learn – Detailed rules of the game, defensive positions, advanced scoring of the game, recording and developing statistics, and review of required game forms for Baseball Alberta league.

Game Changer Class (For those who already know the rules and how to keep score but want to trade in paper and pen.)

2019 Dates and Times TBA

New this year – a dedicated class to introducing and teaching tips for using this electronic scoring App.

Whether you sign up for the Beginner’s Basic and/or Advanced Series, please ensure you can attend both sessions.  You can take Beginner’s Basic, as well as Advanced if you wish, or skip straight to the Advanced Series if you are already familiar with basic scorekeeping.  The Game Changer Class is a single session.

All classes will be held at the tennis courts office beside the NEZ building, 7515 Borden Park Road.

To register, contact Raiven Hansen-Downs at raivenhansendowns@gmail.com.   Please indicate which association your child plays for and what category and division (i.e. Ft Sask Mosquito AA). This clinic is FREE but there will be limited space so be sure to sign up now!  Due to limited space and dates, we will only be able to accommodate two representatives from a team.

Scorekeeping is a key part of the game and is required for league, tournament and provincial games. Come out with your favourite pen or pencil and notebook to learn this important part of the game.  Handouts and practice score sheets will be provided.

“The world is divided into two kinds of baseball fans:

those who keep score at the ballgame … and those who have never made the leap.”
