If your name is on the list there will be a Mandatory Parent meeting on Sunday, April 2, 2017 at 4:00 pm at the Northeast Zone Building, 7515 Borden Park Road. One parent from each family must attend. Lorraine will be at the office to collect the top up of the registration fee.

The Edmonton Padres are pleased to congratulate the following players for being selected to the 2017 Padres Bantam AA team. If your name is on the list below there will be a Mandatory Parent meeting Monday, March 27 at the Northeast Zone Building, 7515 Borden Park Road. One parent from each family must attend.
Please be there for 7:00 pm to see Lorraine in the office to top up your registration payment. The parent meeting will be at 7:30 next door in the Tennis Court Building.
Next important date is Thursday March 30, 8pm Homerun Sports. This is for apparel fitting.
There will be indoor practices coming out soon.

EDMONTON PADRES AA MIDGET
The Edmonton Padres are pleased to congratulate the following players for being selected to the 2017 Edmonton Padres Midget AA team. If your name is listed below you are required to attend a practice Saturday March 25th from 2pm -3pm at Home Run Sports. The coaching staff also requires at least 1 parent or guardian to attend as well, as there will be a important but brief parent meeting following practice. Edmonton Padres 2017 AA Tryout Schedule
Tryouts for the 2017 season are almost complete and teams are being formed. Please check with the team head coach for pre-season meeting, practice or other event dates and times.
For all AA competitive teams there will be a $25.00 tryout fee per player. This tryout fee is waived for all players registered in the Padres 2017 winter work out camp. Cheque or cash only. Cheques payable to NEZ Baseball. Registration will be collected on first tryout date.
Registration fees for AA Baseball for the 2017 season are:
- Mosquito: $475.00
- Peewee: $500.00
- Bantam: $525.00
- Midget: $550.00
One volunteer bingo/commitment is required for each player at time of registration. An additional bingo commitment is required for all AA players. This shift will be selected once the teams are set. Registration fees include participation in the season, playoffs, practices and two tournaments. Also included is player apparel including a jacket, baseball cap, Mock-T, equipment bag & helmet.

EDMONTON PADRES AA BASEBALL

- Do you want to further develop your baseball skills?
- Do you want a longer season to play?
If the answer is “YES”, the Rep Program is for you. It gives players the opportunity to hone their individual and team skills at weekly practices, to demonstrate those skills in competitive games in the surrounding area, and to extend the season through July (and into August at the higher levels).
Rep teams are designed for those player’s with above average ability, commitment and desire to play at higher levels of competition. These levels are identified as Competitive (AA). The major objective will be player development through fair participation by all players on the team up to Provincial round robins.
Participation on a rep team implies certain commitments on behalf of the player’s and the parent’s. The major commitments are time, travel and financial which also includes fund raising initiatives. Rep teams typically utilize weekdays for practices (2 to 3 per week), exhibition games, etc. and weekends for games and tournaments based on schedule and travel requirements as determined by Baseball Alberta. Some games are scheduled during the week, depending on the distance teams must travel. Teams also play during July and August; the length of time depends on the success of the team as it advances through to Provincial Championships and/or post Provincial Championships. Dedication to a rep team will prove beneficial to the player as a valuable learning experience, failure to fulfill the commitments by the player or parent is denying another player a position on the team and will result in a review of the player’s rep privileges.
Player registration fees cover basic expenses related to Baseball Alberta, insurance, team registration. Additional rep fees are collected by the association through the team budgets once the team rosters are completed to offset various operating expenses related to the facilities and/or team. Teams are required to prepare their own team budgets to cover expenses related to additional association fees, travel, tournaments, additional apparel/equipment, etc. The amount of fundraising activities varies per team and will have a direct impact on the final per player cost to the families.
Each spring players registered with NEZ Baseball who meet the above mentioned criteria are encouraged to attend the evaluation sessions to try out for positions on the rep team. The evaluations or “tryouts” are conducted under the direction of the respective NEZ Baseball Director. These evaluations are based upon the player’s age category, direct observation of demonstrated skill, development potential, perceived dedication to the program/coaches and various other factors, this way they are placed at the skill level that is most appropriate for them.
All coaches at the rep level are required to meet Baseball Alberta, NEZ baseball requirements and possess current certification.
NEZ Baseball exists to foster and encourage the growth and enjoyment of the sport of baseball by teaching the value of sportsmanship, skills and competition.
Additional player registration fees will be set based on the team budget and will be collected once the team is selected.
